About GoCrossCampus
Topaz Group, through its MassMind Studio, was deeply involved in GoCrossCampus, building a community platform with mapped Flash architecture and interactive design. Leveraging their TopazPort CMS/CRM, they enabled scalable social interaction, user-generated content, and a visually rich Flash-map interface for a truly engaging campus-style virtual environment.
Topaz built GoCrossCampus using a Flash-based interactive map architecture, leveraging their MassMind Studio expertise to create a richly interactive, browser-based community platform. Their solution is deeply integrated with TopazPort, a CMS/CRM system, to manage user profiles, content workflows, and community moderation. Using modular Flash components, they designed map “tiles” and interactive zones where users can navigate, contribute content, and engage socially. TopazPort’s infrastructure supports customizable user profiles, bulletin boards, event systems, and relationships between members, enabling real-time community interaction.
The Challenge
GoCrossCampus needed an online community experience that felt alive — a digital campus where students could interact, explore, and compete through a dynamic, game-like interface. The problem was bridging a highly interactive Flash-based front end with a robust backend that could manage user identity, social features, content flows, and real-time engagement. The platform required scalability, strong community tools, and the ability to customize complex game mechanics without breaking the underlying system.

The architecture also includes “hooks” — extension points in the CMS — allowing for flexible customization of features and behaviors tied to GoCrossCampus’s social and spatial interactivity.
